When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter (the door bell),
I sprang from the bed (actually my chair) to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash (stumbled up the steps, half a sleep),
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash (threw the dogs in the bedroom).

I opened the door…

He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.

For all those dis-believers, here is living proof, Santa and the misses out for a cruise.

They were in the “neighbor hood” and stopped by to see all the flashing lights. Turned out to be extra special for the kids that were viewing the display, when Santa and the misses spent some time talking with them as they were dazzled by the lights. Thanks Santa

Tis the week….

Tis the week before Christmas, we’re all going nuts;
With so much to do, there’s no ifs, ands or buts.
Buy presents, hang tree lights, pop cards in the mail,
Send gift packs, thread popcorn, find turkeys on sale.

Decorations need stringing up all through the house.
And you haven’t a clue what to buy for your spouse.
School concerts, receptions, open houses with friends,
Long lineups, short tempers, tying up the loose ends.

With all our mad dashing, we’re reeling from shock;
Let’s stop for a minute and really take stock.
It’s crassly commercial, the cynical say;
If that’s true, that our fault-it’s us and not they.

Take time for yourself-though hard as that seems—
Enjoy your kids’ laughter, excitement and dreams.
Take a moment out now, don’t get overly riled,
Instead make an angel in snow with your child.

The shortbread can wait, and so can the tree;
What’s important to feel is a child’s sense of glee.
The holidays aren’t about push, rush and shove;
They’re for friendship and sharing and family love.

Hear the bells, feel the warmth, light up with the glow
Of a message first sent to us so long ago:
Peace, love and goodwill, and hope burning bright.
Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Show hitting it’s stride

Thanks all for the continued support this year. We are having a great turn out and the donation drive for the Tierra Dobry Foundation is growing fast. Every little bit helps another needed student fund there way threw school. Please remember to park on the opposite side of the street to view the display so others can enjoy, and keep your head lights off if possible.

First night

Thanks all for stopping by. Show went off with out a hitch again, thanks to some great help from really smart friends. Also, thanks to all that made a donation towards Tierra L Dobry Foundation. Putting the finishing touches on two more sequences, and a few more display items that should be ready by next weekend.

Grand Opening….TONIGHT

It’s here, we actually made it. Here is a sneak look at our newly designed arch over the driveway.

We ran a test show last night for a few hrs, and it ran flawlessly. First day in nearly 2 months the show computer did not lock up thanks to a last minute patch. First show starts at 5:30pm.

Don’t forget to turn on your car radio to 90.5 to listen to the lights dance to the music.

We will be updating a few more songs and adding them to the mix during the next two weeks, so come on back and enjoy some new songs with some new friends. Enjoy Rudolf talking during a couple of the voice overs too.

Thanksgiving Day

Happy Thanksgiving Day to all. We are truly thankful for all the friends and family in our lives today, and in the past. We are now moving ahead of schedule with the lights setup since the weather has been so nice (and some much needed time off of work). We will still be having our first official night next Saturday night the 3rd, but keep an eye out over this way for maybe a sneak peak or showing before hand.

We did some testing again late last night, and the show is looking brighter and brighter. We should have all the lawn stuff 100% done by Saturday, with just some loose ends on the wiring to do. Look for a static display to be lit during next week

Update 11-21-11

Things are moving along fast. There is actually “light” at the end of the tunnel in this year journey to the lights. We are about 80% of the way set up, with nearly 75% connected and tested. With this week weather outlook, we should be rock solid by Saturday. Dec 3rd. Be sure to look for lots of new features we have added, including an Arch over the driveway with musical instruments synchronized to the music. We also were able to budget an lift to be able to wrap our larger trees in the front yard for the first time all the way to the top. Each tree alone is pulling over 10-12 amps for each color.

Progress 11-6

Things are moving along. Great day Saturday with the Fund Raising event for Routes of Hope (this years donation drive for lights). Nearly 20,000 dollars raised so far. House is exactly 1/4 of the way decorated. Just a few more thousand lights left to go on it, than on to wrapping 10,000 in the trees. Puts the light count on property as of today at just under 10,000. Weather seems to be going to hold nice for another week, so another big push will be happening this week.
